The first two chicken coops are finished and now have 1,200 chickens in them!

In this video, Christopher Kapito shares about the impact of the first two chicken coops we have built, and it explains the importance of raising money for two more! Here is a summary of what you will hear:

• 300 “layers” (chickens that lay eggs) have been provided to each village
• 300 “broilers” (chickens raised to see for their meet have been provided to each village)
• 1200 chickens have been provided in total
• 1200-1800 eggs a day are expected to be produced to feed children
• There was no protein in the diets of the children before but now there will be!
• This is also giving each village a chance to generate income to ensure the chicken coops are self-sustaining and that they have a surplus to grow this industry and provide for other needs
• Profits from selling broiler chickens will be used to maintain the coops, purchase chicken feed, and clothe children and provide school uniforms
• 20 people form the leadership committee for these chicken coops – FMI will continue working with them to ensure proper stewardship of these resources

Thank you for those of you who have already given to this cause. Our goal is to raise $10,000, and right now we still need to raise an additional $5,000, so we can build two more chicken coops this summer!
