FMI Provides 1000 More Bibles to Uganda

One of the greatest gifts we can give as Christians is the Word of God. Many of us have multiple copies of the Bible in our homes, on our phones, and in our tablets, so it is hard for us to imagine what life would be like without our own copy of the Scriptures. Yet many people in northern Uganda still do not have their own Bible. Sometimes the only copy in the village is kept at the church, and church members must come to the church to read it. Our aim at FMI is to change that by distributing Bibles throughout northern Uganda, so everyone has access to this gift God has given us.

We are excited to announce that a second wave of Bibles was recently delivered to northern Uganda by Fresch Ministries International in partnership with Lifeway and North Sea Baptist Church in Stavanger. In 2013 we distributed 1400 Bibles; this year we sent 1,008. This is wonderful progress, yet so many more Bibles are still needed. One reason we focus on northern Uganda is because this region of the country is severely under-developed due to years of oppression from Joseph Kony and his “army.” As this area recovers socially and economically, FMI wants to ensure they also continue to grow spiritually.

Pastor James Ekwang, our national coordinator for Uganda, writes: “You sending these Bibles is a great prayer answer to me because like last time, your supply always comes many that helps me to design and strategize distribution catering for the multitudes that turn up for discipleship after our crusades, school and educational institutions we are always reaching out to, etc. David, am so grateful my dear brother and please thank your ministry supporters so much for me!

“As I conclude, I think I should already say that the need here for Bibles is overwhelming and sending more wouldn’t be a bad idea. Nevertheless, may the Lord keep you all in his perfect peace and grace as you keep the faith and empower countless with the WORD of God!”

Pastor James also shares more in the video Uganda Bible Distribution on the video page of the website.

We would love to send 2,000 more Bibles in the near future. Lifeway has been very generous to us, and the Bibles have cost about $5 each in the past, which includes shipping all the way from Atlanta to Lira, Uganda! We have to buy them by the case which contains 28 Bibles and costs approximately $140. Your ongoing support makes all this possible; thank you!
